if: Warning

Stop right there! - this ballerina girl tells it like it is.

I had a lot of fun painting this. It actually took me three paintings to get to this final one. I started with acrylics for the background and tutu, then I switched to watercolor for the background because I was really enjoying the look of the wood and didn't want to completely cover it up. Luckily my friend Bill who is a furniture maker gave me a ton on plywood in January, so I have lots of wood to play with. Thank you, Bill!

  1. Claudia! I love all of your drawings and paintings. I have always wanted to tell you that I look at The Weekly Creature often, especially when I need to calm down or when I need a reminder of the importance of whimsy and imagination in life. Thank you. Hope to see you soon :)

  2. She is sooo adorable, and they are so! I remember my little ballerina when she was that age!

  3. I love hearing your process! I like the wood too-cool texture!

  4. Haha. I love the sass and attitude in this piece. The colors are great against that white outfit, too.

  5. Hi Claudia,

This illustration is absolutely wonderful! Perfect portrayal with the sassiness and the pout!
